We spent most of the last 40 years traveling overseas. Our introduction to Oriental carpets was made during the late-1970's when we lived in Iran. Having four teenagers in the house precluded our making extensive purchases at that time, but our interest in handmade carpets had been piqued and we left Iran with four pieces - a modest beginning for the extensive collection we have been fortunate enough to acquire since that time.

No additions were made during the 1980's, but in the early 1990's, we were given an opportunity to live in India for a few years - this time without children in tow. Our interest in carpets was rekindled almost immediately, and during our four-year stay, we examined, touched and discussed literally thousands of carpets from India, Kashmir, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. We left India with 50 pieces, but the collection remained static for two years while we lived in a country that did not produce handmade carpets.

In the mid-1990's, we moved to Turkey where we began collecting carpets seriously, with an emphasis on old and antique pieces. Over the next ten years, our inventory of textiles grew to several hundred pieces, which include carpets, kilims, and other handmade items from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kashmir, The Caucasus, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Pakistan, India and East Turkestan.

Seccade Collections is the name we chose for our on-line store which we started to provide the public with an opportunity to see items from some of our collections and to purchase select items for their own enjoyment. We planned to do business exclusively on eBay and on this web site; however, visits to our home can be arranged.. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact us.
